Review of the Anker 7 Plus 2 USB 3 Hub

As I mentioned in my last review of the Anker 9 Port USB Hub with One charging port, I had a few hub reviews to catch up on this week and this is the 2nd and final USB 3.0 hub that I had on my plate to review.  This is also by far my favorite of all the USB 3.0 hubs that I have reviewed and I can tell you right now this is the hub to beat.

Here is a quick video review of the Anker USB 3.0 7-Port Hub + 2 Charge-Only Ports

The Anker® Uspeed USB 3.0 7-Port Hub + 2 Charge-Only Ports is by far the most versatible hub of them all and is the only hub that I have tested that not only includes 7 fully functional USB 3.0 ports but also 2 side charging ports one for 1.5A smart phone charging and the other is 2.1A for tablet charging.  This means you can have a phone and an iPad or Google Nexus 7 charging while using the hub for your 7 devices hooked up to your PC.  You can also always keep one of the Anker external batteries charged too.

What makes this hub so remarkable to me is that I love that the hub is so thin and that all of the ports face the same direction, which is opposite of the power plug and the plug that goes into your computer.  This makes it very easy to just plug and unplug devices as needed and never have to adjust or turn the hub around or fiddle with more than 2 sides after it is setup.  They also took the time to put rubberized feet on the hub, while small they do a good job of reducing the amount of skid or sliding that the hub does on a desk while plugging and unplugging USB devices.

The hub is fast, USB 3 speeds were no slower than plugging directly into a USB 3.0 port directly with my Kingston Flash Drive and I used my webcam and USB Microphone through the hub ports without any noise, distortion or feedback too so the ports are clean.  The side ports for charging are perfect, I can leave my iPad plugged into the 2.1A port charging until it is needed and use the 1.5A port to charge my iPhone, or other accessory like a USB headset or External Battery Pack.

Overall this is my favorite of all the USB 3.0 hubs that I have reviewed and though I have reviewed hubs with more than 7 ports, this one has all the factors that make it better than the others which included, rubber feet for anti-slipping, all ports facing the same direction, thinner than most other hubs with this many ports and 2 dedicated charging ports means you can always have your devices charging close by.

If you have a laptop with too few USB ports, or your desktop is in a place where it is inconvenient to keep reaching around to plug and unplug USB devices, then this Anker 7 Port USB 3 hub with 2 Charging Ports is well worth the investment, most PC’s have 2 USB 3 ports, this turns 1 port into 7 USB 3 ports for you.
