In a June 5 press release, Apple unveiled their Vision Pro – their first spatial computer.*Image from the Apple website.
What is it?
In Apple’s own words, the Vision Pro is “a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with the physical world, while allowing users to stay present and connected to others.”
In other words, this is a device that aims to integrate what you would typically do on a computer into your physical environment.*Image from the Apple website.
What features will it have?
To start, the device will have its own operating system – the visionOS.

Next, is the breakthrough design that allows an ultra-high-resolution display system that packs 23 million pixels across two displays.
On top of that, there is a unique dual-chip design to ensure every experience is taking place in front of your eyes.
What is the hardware like?
Enclosure – a singular piece of formed laminated glass that flows into an aluminum alloy frame.
Camera and Sensors – advanced cameras as sensors that allows the user to see clearly, and detect hand input.

Speakers – positioned close to the ears and delivers rich Spatial Audio that blends with your environment’s sound.

Headband – provides cushioning, breathability, and stretch. The Fit Dial allows for precise adjustment.*Image from the Apple website.
Displays – pair of custom micro-OLED displays that is advertised to deliver more pixels than a 4K TV.

Light Seal – conforms to your face for precise fitting while blocking out stray light.
Where will it be released and how much does it cost?
The Apple Vision Pro will be available early 2024 on Apple’s website and at US Apple Store locations.
For starters, the Vision Pro starts at a whopping $3,499 USD.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has this to say, “Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing…Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing…”
