With only a few months left until the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI, many PS5 owners are reconsidering whether they should upgrade to a PS5 Pro to enjoy GTA 6.
The same goes for those who don’t yet have a PS5 and are unsure if the Pro version is worth it or if the standard version will be more than enough to enjoy the next Grand Theft Auto.
However, based on comments from tech influencers and what Rockstar has done in previous releases, we can speculate on what is most likely to happen, especially considering the potential limitations of both the original PS5 and the PS5 Slim.
The difference between the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro
In simple terms, the PS5 Pro offers much higher performance. However, developers optimize games for the PS5 as a whole and do not prioritize the PS5 Pro. In terms of optimization, no game should have issues, even though the PS5 Pro is theoretically more powerful.
Is the PS5 powerful enough for GTA 6?
Regarding GTA 6, it is very likely that Rockstar will limit the game to 30 FPS on the PS5 Slim to maintain high graphical quality, although with perfect optimization it might reach 60 FPS. The two trailers released so far suggest that the graphical demands of this new Grand Theft Auto VI will be very high, making it one of the most ambitious games in history.
The PS5 Pro should be able to run GTA 6 at 60 FPS with better graphics. However, we will have to wait for the official release to see a real comparison. There is expected to be a noticeable difference in frame rates while keeping GTA 6 visually impressive on the PS5 Slim.
Is it worth buying the PS5 Pro?
Currently, the PS5 Pro is available on Amazon for $749, while the PS5 Slim with disc edition can be found for $539. That is a difference of $210 between the two versions.
If your budget is tight, it may not be worth paying extra for a game that can likely be enjoyed comfortably on the PS5 Slim. However, if your budget allows, go for the Pro if you want the best possible quality, not just for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI but for all games in general.
