I will be completely honest and say that I am not at all a fan of iTunes. Unlike Android phones where you can just plug the device on your computer and have access to all of your files, it is quite a hassle to do that with iTunes. Luckily, one can tackle this problem by using a third-party file manager. In this article, we will be reviewing AnyTrans for iOS which can be a perfect alternative to iTunes for file sharing.

AnyTrans Features

  • Transfer Music and files freely across all devices.
  • Switch from Android to iOS in a few simple steps.
  • Backup your iOS device and restore it later at any time.
  • Make custom ringtones for your iOS device with Ringtone Maker.
  • Manage iCloud data easily with the iCloud Manager.
  • Backup and restore your social media messages to other iOS devices.

Let us have a detailed look at each of the features available in AnyTrans.

Device Manager

Device Manager lets you manage all of the files available on your iOS device. The first thing is to of course connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and then give the software the required permissions to access the device. Once that is done, you get access to all of your photos, videos, music, messages, apps etc. To export files from your iOS device to your computer, select the files and click on the ‘Send to PC’ icon on the top right.

To transfer the files over to another device, connect the device and select the ‘Send to Device’ icon. To export all of the device data to your computer, click on ‘Content to PC’, select the required categories and click on ‘Next’ to start exporting.

There are two ways to import files from your computer to your iOS device. The first method is to directly drag and drop the files over to the image of your iOS device. This will directly start the transfer. The second method is to click on ‘+ Add Content to Device’ and then select the files to transfer.

There are also some other useful features included in the Device Manager section such as Home Screen Manager. It lets you arrange the position of the apps according to your needs. You can also backup and restore a home screen if required. AnyTrans Drive with the mobile app lets us use the iOS device like a USB flash drive for transferring files. App File Sharing can be used to view and transfer the files from the apps that are installed on your device. Online HEIC Converter is a bonus feature that can help us convert HEIC image files to JPG format.

iCloud Manager

iCloud Manager is an easy way to manage your iCloud account. With one tap, you can import and export data from iCloud to your computer and vice versa. Another feature is iCloud Sync that can freely transfer data between different iCloud accounts with a simple click.

Phone Switcher

Phone switcher is an amazing feature that helps the user migrate data from one device on to the other. With ‘Phone to iPhone‘, you can migrate your data from either Android or iOS device to a new iPhone or iPad easily. You can browse and restore any previous backups of your iOS device to your new device by clicking on ‘Backup to iPhone‘. ‘Cloud to iPhone’ lets you transfer data from iCloud and even Google Cloud over to your iOS device. ‘Cloud to Cloud‘ lets us migrate data from iCloud to our Google Cloud. This definitely is one of my favourite features. Finally, you can click on  ‘Erase Phone‘ to format the device once you are done transferring the files to your new device. I doubt whether Apple will ever implement any of these features on their iTunes app.

Backup Manager

As the name suggests, Backup Manager lets us make a complete backup of our device. There are two ways in which we can back up our device. The first one is a Full Backup that backs up all the data from the device. The second one is the Incremental Backup that only backs up new data which does not exist in the previous backups. When Air Backup is enabled, AnyTrans will automatically backup any new data incrementally as long as the device and the computer are connected to the same WiFi.

Social Media Manager

Some people prefer transferring their social media messages to their new device. With the help of Social Media Manager, you can do that. You can easily make a backup from social media apps such as Whatsapp, LINE, and Viber and save the backup on your computer and restore them anytime you wish. Or you can use the ‘iPhone to iPhone’ feature to directly transfer the messages from one device to the other.

Other Helpful Utilities

Media Downloader can be used to download videos and audios from more than 1000+ popular websites. All you need to do is paste the link in the search bar and then download the file. Once the file is downloaded, you can transfer it to your iOS device.

Ringtone Maker is yet another useful feature that lets us trim an audio file and use it as a ringtone. Simply, drag and drop the song and then trim your favourite part of the song and then send it to your device.

App Downloader can be used to download and install apps on your iOS device. The downloaded apps get saved to the App Library and can also save historical versions of an app so that you can install any version whenever you want.

Screen Mirroring is the final feature of AnyTrans. Screen Mirroring lets you mirror your iOS device screen to your computer when it is connected to the same WiFi. It can be used to play games or watch movies on a bigger screen.

iMobie AnyTrans for iOS is an excellent alternative for iTunes. It has all the features that one looks for in a file manager and many more. It has a clean user interface which makes using the software much easier. Along with a clean UI, AnyTrans also has the option to enable a dark theme. The software is priced at $39.99 for a 1-year license, but you can get a lifetime license for $49.99 which seems like a better option to me. While the software isn’t free, I still feel like it is worth spending some money and getting a good file manager rather than using iTunes. To purchase the software, click here.
