Apple today has announced a new application called the iBooks Author, at the Educational event which was held today. With the help of this new application, literally anybody can now create their own version of iBooks textbooks, cookbooks, history books, picture books, and more for iPad. All you need to have is a new idea and access to a Mac and thats it.
Users will be able to use the wide range of templates and page layouts provided by Apple, to add your own text and pictures. You can also use the Multi-Touch widgets to include interactive photo galleries, movies, Keynote presentations, 3D objects, etc.Once done with the book, you can immediately preview on the iPad and publish the final copy on the iBookstore in a few simple steps.
First you need to select a template from the give choice or you can create your own template which can be easily customized with text and images, create new layouts for your book. The Book Navigator to organize your book and add a cover and table of contents.
After that you can add text, shapes, charts, tables, and media anywhere on the page, which can be imported from Pages or Microsoft Word. You can automatically create a portrait view of your book, which allows readers to focus on the text.
From the Multi-touch widgets selection, you can choose from a variety of widgets, to which you can add photo gallery, chapter review, movie, Keynote presentation, interactive image with callouts, 3D object, or custom HTML.
You can also add accessibility descriptions to any widget so that it can be used by sight-impaired readers easily with VoiceOver. Once you are done with your book, you can directly submit to the iBookstore for sale or free download.
With the iBooks Author, users can now create thousands of books from all over the world free of cost, without the need for any publishers. The new application is now available for free download from the Mac App Store.
