As a fan of Dead by Daylight, I’m excited for the upcoming major update, expected on June 17, 2025. It’s essentially a collaboration between Five Nights at Freddy’s and the Dead by Daylight universe, which includes a recreated map from the third FNaF game, along with one of the most iconic animatronics: Springtrap.

However, this isn’t exactly new information, the Dead by Daylight team had already hinted at it back in August 2024. But it wasn’t until May of this year that all the new features were officially revealed. A big part of this epic crossover is meant to celebrate the game’s 9th anniversary, which will be on June 14.

Some images have been released, suggesting that the experience aims to be as terrifying as possible. It’s already been confirmed that a new map is being introduced, set in the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant, the setting of the first game in the series. Springtrap comes equipped with a pizzeria knife that can be thrown at survivors. He also has multiple abilities, such as making survivors scream at any time when he is nearby.

There are some gameplay videos available on YouTube, which only a few people have had access to so far. It’s interesting because there are features, we’ve never seen before in Dead by Daylight. For example, survivors can teleport through doors, and they can also use something similar to security cameras to view different areas of the map, which helps them locate Springtrap.

Abilities Springtrap can use:

  • With the “Search Announcement” add-on, Springtrap can instantly grab a survivor with a primary click after hitting them with his axe.
  • Using the “Access Panel”, Springtrap can throw an axe through the door connected to the camera a survivor is viewing, hitting them directly.
  • Springtrap can throw an axe at a security door to lock it automatically, blocking passage until it’s removed.

However, keep in mind that these gameplay previews are not from the final version, so we shouldn’t be surprised if there are some major changes.

Will Springtrap be available in the 8 vs 2 mode?

No, at least not for now. The latest 8 vs 2 event ended on May 29, so it’s unlikely that Springtrap will be included any time soon.

Also, due to the game’s policies, most killers are not typically available in that mode. Still, it’s possible that Springtrap could be added in the future, just like other characters such as Leon and Nemesis from Resident Evil, who are playable in that format.

So… we’re about two weeks away from this big update!

Don’t have it on your console yet?

Remember that Dead by Daylight supports crossplay, so you can play with friends on different platforms!
