I have been using Logitech G502 HERO for over 6 months, a mouse that remains one of the best sellers in the world despite its launch in 2018. So why is it still so popular despite being so old? Is its price too good? Or is its quality superior to the competition? There are many questions, but all of them can be summed up in a single word, “comfort”.

After testing the Logitech G502 HERO for months, I can offer an honest opinion on its functionality. I’ll also include a few points about customization software, which is an indispensable tool to ensure the best performance when using the mouse.

Key Points

  • Comfort

I’d like to dive deeper into the “Logitech G Hub” software later, but I’d like to emphasize how comfortable it is to use the Logitech G502 HERO. It’s lightweight and the customization buttons allow for quick setup according to each user’s needs. The sensitivity can be adjusted, and different levels of sensitivity can be set, which is a great help for those who prefer to change depending on the program being used.

  • Up to 25k DPI

This is directly related to what was mentioned above: mouse sensitivity, measured in DPI, can be adjusted from a minimum of 100 to a maximum of 25,000. The ideal sensitivity varies depending on each user’s individual preferences. However, it’s important to note that too high a sensitivity can make it difficult to control the pointer. Generally, it is recommended to use a sensitivity that ranges between 1200 and 3500 DPI, although this range can vary depending on the specific needs and preferences of each user.

  • Infinite Scroll

While not unique to this mouse, the spinning wheel was a new feature for me. It’s a scroll that can spin for almost 5 seconds with a gentle touch. It may seem unhelpful at first, but once I got used to it, I noticed that I could save time on certain tasks. In addition, this feature can be turned off to have a more standard offset, which can also function as a brake if more precision is needed.

  • Customizable colors

As with all Logitech products, the customization of lighting shouldn’t come as a surprise. The colors of the logo and the three stripes around the mouse can be adjusted among millions of combinations for a unique experience. In addition to setting the colors, you can also adjust the pace of the lighting, either for a quick change or a fixed setting.

This is the free “Logitech G Hub” software, which allows for complete customization. It offers a wide range of parameters, including the ability to change the function of each button, adjust the sensitivity (DPI), and modify lighting colors. A standout feature is the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse depending on the game that is currently running. Activating this feature can be extremely beneficial, as it provides greater sensitivity tailored to the specific needs of each game.

Problems with Logitech G Hub

Some users may experience issues with the software on certain occasions. A rare experience I’ve had is that sometimes the DPI settings don’t respond properly when trying to switch between different sensitivity levels. This can be frustrating when performing certain tasks, as the mouse sensitivity can be so high that I even struggle to adjust it manually in the program. Importantly, this issue rarely occurs and could be a problem specific to my computer.

So, is it worth it?

Definitely! There are a few points to improve on this mouse. Also, most of the time it’s on sale, so if you’re thinking of upgrading your old mouse, this one remains a great choice. Despite being released in 2018, it’s still mass-produced due to its popularity. The performance is quite good, and it doesn’t have anything to envy from any current mouse; in fact, it can be even better in some aspects.
