ILL is a project that, according to its creators, aims to be one of the scariest games ever made. The 2021 trailers created a lot of excitement among genre fans, but as of 2024, there haven’t been any new previews or videos. This begs the question: is this another ghost studio or a group of creators with skills in animation? Today we bring you the latest news about ILL.
What is ILL about?
ILL’s theme is first-person survival, with graphically incredible scenarios. I would say that its trailers show a similarity to Resident Evil 7. It is claimed to be developed with Unreal Engine 5, but most users come to the same conclusion: none of the videos shown in the trailers are real gameplay, rather, they look like a rendering. Although we must be honest, not always a graphically realistic game means that it is a good game, there are already enough examples that have ended up being a failure.
Who oversees ILL development?
There is not much information about this, it is only known that a Russian studio (Team Clout) that has never created a game of this magnitude is in charge of the project. At the beginning they were looking for financing and even continue to receive donations through Patreon. This is not good news, I’ve seen dozens of games like “Rides with Strangers” that received thousands of dollars through Patreon and never completed development. In 2016, “Rides with Strangers” had an interesting demo, but after 8 years its creator still says that it is in development.
The latest news published by Team Clout
There’s still a little hope at ILL. In January 2024, Team Clout posted an announcement on Patreon where they reported that they had realized that this was a large-scale project. They asked that they trust that the development of the game is still underway and that any announcement would only spoil progress. In the message they also mentioned that a part of the proceeds from Patreon would be used for the creation of music, animation and other aspects related to ILL
Another of their most recent publications took place in April 2024, where they are supposedly waiting for some commercial processes to continue publishing content. Honestly, it’s hard to believe that a studio with just over 25 people, with hardly any experience in mobile game development, would be able to create a game that can match big companies with million-dollar budgets.
I don’t want to be discouraging, I really hope that in the next few months they will release at least one demo. This would calm the multiple scam comments circulating on forums. Just a quick look at the YouTube comments makes users think that ILL is another unfair way to make money through donations
The good thing is that Team Clout has not completely disappeared and they are still active, although with little recent news. For horror game fans, all we can do is keep waiting for updates and stay optimistic that ILL is indeed being developed and will be released eventually.
This is the latest we know about ILL. If there’s any breakthrough, rest assured we’ll publish it immediately!
