The 2 vs 8 mode was probably one of the 3 best modes introduced in Dead By Daylight. It is likely that, when this article has been published, mode 2 vs 8 will no longer be available. However, if you thought this was just a limited-time game mode, let me tell you that’s not entirely true. Contrary to what most people have thought, 2 vs 8 seems to be going to be a game mode that will be implemented more consistently and even a possible permanent implementation.
Will the 2 vs 8 mode stay forever in Dead By Daylight? The official Dead By Daylight account on X (formerly Twitter) announced that this new mode was released in trial mode, so it is highly likely to be available again in the near future. It was so successful that they had to add an additional week at the request of the fans. However, they also mentioned that this new mode has some problems.
I experienced exactly this with my brother: after 20 minutes we found a room to play as assassins, it was a madness that I hope they improve in the next update. The time to play in 2 vs 8 mode as a survivor was ridiculously fast, less than 8 seconds to find a room. Because the developers decided to limit the number of available killers, two players could not use the same killer, so increasing the numbers of killers available would significantly improve the time to find a room.
Something I hate is that killers can know where the players are for a few seconds, it’s really annoying. I understand that the game tries to be fair and prevent survivors from hiding too much, but many times I was close to the killer and my location was revealed just because a teammate repaired a generator.
Some players complained that there should be 10 generators instead of 8, but honestly, that would be too much advantage for the killers. In my games, only 60% of the time we manage to repair all the generators, so adding 10 generators would not be a good decision. It would be best to add more skills and even allow players to customize them, as in the classic mode, instead of offering predefined skills.
It’s great that there are 3 exit gates instead of 2, as this forces the killers not to try to cheat. In addition, when only two survivors are left, 3 trapdoors are activated instead of 1. This is complicated anyway, as assassins can find the trapdoors relatively easily. In addition, when a survivor uses a trapdoor, it will close, which can put the last survivor tight.
The 2 vs 8 mode is just fun
I really want to be honest: I love this new mode and, since it’s available, I’ve never played the classic mode again. However, I must admit that 2 vs 8 is a messy madness. Killers can work in team and make things difficult for survivors. Some players have fewer skills, so escaping as a survivor can sometimes be easy.
The Behaviour Interactive team has managed to bring back thousands of players by introducing this new game mode. The classic mode is too repetitive even though they often collaborate with frequency. I would dare to say that it took more than 8 years to publish content different from what we were used to, so let us hope that this is only the beginning of new and better developments.
