After testing the Linkind SL5C Solar Smart Spot Lights, I can confidently say this isn’t your average garden light—it’s a full-on smart lighting upgrade for your yard, powered by cutting-edge solar tech and packed with features that make it both fun and functional. Whether you’re aiming to impress the neighbors, add safety to your walkways, or set the vibe for a backyard party, these lights deliver—and then some.
Always-On Brilliance with MPPT Solar Charging
Let’s start with what makes the Linkind SL5C really shine: its MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charging technology. This isn’t just some marketing gimmick. It actually boosts charging efficiency by up to 23.5% compared to traditional solar lights, meaning it captures more energy even on cloudy days or in partial shade. Combine that with the built-in 5C automotive-grade battery, and you get up to 14 hours of nonstop lighting—yes, all night long, dusk till dawn.
This means no more fading lights halfway through your evening BBQ, and no stressing over turning anything on or off. With dusk-to-dawn automation, these lights literally take care of themselves.

Smart Controls, Total Convenience
One of the standout features of the SL5C is how smart it is. Using the AiDot app, you can control every light in your yard right from your phone. Want to switch colors, dim them down, or schedule them to turn on at sunset? It’s all just a few taps away.
And if you’re into smart homes, this light plays nice with Amazon Alexa and Google Home—just pair it with Linkind’s Bluetooth Mesh Hub, and boom: voice-controlled landscape lighting. It feels high-tech without being high-maintenance.
Light Shows That Sync With Your Life
Here’s where things get really fun: music sync and light shows. Planning a backyard birthday, Halloween bash, or cozy winter gathering? You can program these lights to pulse with the beat of your playlist or run a light show with seasonal color themes.
Imagine your front yard glowing red and green for Christmas, or shifting to spooky purple and orange tones in October. Hosting a summer dinner party? Throw on some jazz and let the lights gently flicker with the rhythm. These aren’t just lights—they’re part of the entertainment.
Color Options to Match Every Mood
With 16 million colors and adjustable white tones, the SL5C lets you totally personalize your yard’s vibe. Set warm whites for a cozy firepit evening, or go bold with vibrant hues to highlight flower beds, pathways, or garden sculptures. The brightness and temperature are easily customizable, so whether you want subtle accent lighting or a bold, colorful splash, you’re in control.

Landscape Lighting Ideas That Make a Statement
Here are a few ways you can take advantage of the Linkind SL5C’s versatility to completely elevate your yard:
- Front Pathways: Use soft warm whites to line your front walk, guiding guests safely while adding curb appeal.
- Driveway Borders: Colorful borders make your home pop at night, especially during holidays or parties.
- Garden Spotlights: Angle the adjustable heads to highlight your favorite shrubs, trees, or flower beds.
- Patio Perimeter: Group the lights and set a cozy evening scene with dimmed ambient light while you relax or dine outdoors.
- Wall Washing: Mount a few along your fence or home exterior to create dramatic light and shadow effects.
- Holiday Themes: Customize preset scenes with festive colors and let them automatically rotate through animations during seasonal events.
- Pool Area Accents: If you’ve got a pool or water feature, colorful lighting can completely change the atmosphere after dark.
With the IP67 waterproof rating, these lights hold up through rain, dust, and everything in between, so you can install them once and forget about maintenance.

Easy Installation and Group Control
Each unit is super simple to install, whether you stake it into the ground or mount it on a wall. Plus, you can link up to 32 lights into 8 groups, allowing you to control large areas with just a few taps. Have one group for your walkway, another for the patio, and another to spotlight the trees.
After you pair your lights or even before you can click on the + sign and where you would add a device you select Add Outdoor Group.

Name your group and then select which of your lights you want to be in that group, I just made things simple and put all 8 SL5C Solar Spotlights into a single outdoor group called Back Yard.

After your group is created your entire group shows up along with your individual lights, with your group all the lights in your group immediately sync to the same color choices and options you select.

This includes any presets, colors, music syncing, light show and brightness levels.

Create different scenes for each one and toggle between them with ease.
With Music Syncing, you basically have your phone’s microphone (you have to allow AiDot access to your microphone) to pick up music and the lights will sync to the music based on the pattern you choose.

Note, you do have to either play music on your phone speaker or have an outdoor speaker for your phone’s microphone to pick up and it will even pick up claps, shouts or any noise as “sound” which causes pattern shifts in the lights.
My favorite mode however is light show, and this is the perfect mode for holiday seasons when you want to make your lighting more festive. You can even pick each specific light that you want to be in the mode and the direction of the Light Show.

Here is what Light Show looks like in action
The only thing that I found slightly annoying was there was a firmware update needed on all the spot lights and this had to be done individually which took around 2-3 minutes to complete for each one and I had to keep my phone pretty close while I did one firmware update after another, for 8 bulbs this was about 16-20 minutes total which was a bit inconvenient. It would have been nice if there would have been a way to “mass push” the firmware updates to all spotlights at the same time.
