Recently, Mark Zuckerberg announced Muse Charm, a wearable AI device designed to work without requiring constant access to your phone. For the first time, we could be looking at a small AI device that works primarily through voice.

This is a pretty interesting device because it seems to be designed as an AI assistant that is ready to interact with people immediately. This could lay the groundwork for people to use AI assistants without having to rely on their phones for voice conversations, as is currently the case with Gemini and ChatGPT.

Meta says the device will be directly connected to its AI services, allowing it to work independently without being tied to a phone. It also appears that it won’t rely entirely on Wi-Fi, as it will reportedly support 5G mobile networks as well. This could overcome the limitations of Wi-Fi and allow you to take it practically anywhere.

How will Muse Charm work?

So far, we don’t know exactly what capabilities Muse Charm will have or how powerful it could be. What we do know is that it will have a roughly 2-inch display, a customizable virtual pet, and access to Meta’s AI services.

I see it as an AI companion because that’s exactly what many people have wanted: a device that isn’t a phone but can function as an AI assistant to help solve real-world problems or simply have a conversation with you.

If you ask me, I would probably use it to learn new languages, as a helper for solving problems through two-way communication, or simply to talk about topics I find interesting, such as futuristic predictions and the universe.

Does it only work as a voice assistant?

This is where things get interesting because you might think it’s simply like using ChatGPT’s voice conversations, but it isn’t. Muse Charm will reportedly have capabilities that allow it to work with you, including handling emails and even making changes within certain compatible apps, so it’s more than just a voice-based AI assistant.

When will Muse Charm be released?

Mark Zuckerberg said during the presentation that it is likely to launch in December, so Muse Charm could potentially become one of the most interesting tech gifts for Christmas 2026.
