I’m a fan of horror games, but I’d realized that there aren’t many horrors that are designed to be together with friends, so I decided to do research to give up some of the best and most recent horror multiplayer games. I hope you like this collection!
1- Escape the Backrooms
Escape the Backrooms has become one of the most popular horror games in recent months. Although it is still in early access, it has multiple levels and is quite complete despite the developer announcing that the full game will be designed to prevent it from becoming repetitive. Probably the final version is different from what early access offers. Escape the Backrooms has a multiplayer mode for up to 4 players and is quite frightening. Contrary to what most people might think, levels are not just about being inside yellow rooms, they are constantly changing shape.
What makes it more fun is its voice chat by proximity, adds an extra layer of tension and excitement when you hear your friends scream. As for the game itself, there are 12 entities that can appear at any time, so it is important to review each corner. To advance to the next level, all players must survive, therefore, teamwork is indispensable.
2- The Outlast Trials
If you’re a fan of horror games, you’ve probably heard of Outlast at least once. Outlast combines psychological terror, so the latest release is now designed to enjoy with up to 4 friends (can also be played solo). What is Outlast Trials about? The game is set during the Cold War, with terrible human experiments seeking to find the limits and control the mind. Players will have to decipher puzzles to find the truth. The experience is frightening with the multiple enemies who are able to generate suspense and terror throughout the game.
3- Phasmophobia
Phasmophobia is one of the highest rated horror games on Steam, with more than 96% positive reviews. A team of four researchers is to gather information about 20 ghosts. Players use a voice chat with approximation, but they must be careful: ghosts can find players if they start talking while they are nearby, so they should be cautious and use a good strategy. The multiplayer mode can be with up to 4 people.
4- Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is one of my favorite games because it is very simple. It is a multiplayer game where 4 players must face a ruthless killer. Players appear on different maps and their mission will be to repair 5 generators to activate the two exit gates, which must be opened very carefully once they succeed. The killer (which can also be controlled) must prevent players from escaping, so your mission will be to hang them on the sacrifice hooks for the entity to consume them.
When only one player remains in the game, a trapdoor opens, and if the player is quick and lucky, he can escape without having to open the exit gates. If the killer manages to find the trapdoor before the player, he can close it and the exit doors will be ready to be opened, but it will be much more complicated to try to open one of the two doors without the murderer arriving earlier. The only way to open a closed trapdoor is with one of the two keys that can be equipped as an accessory or found in a chest.
Dead by Daylight may become a little repetitive, but developers often add new game modes. They just added a 2 vs 8 that was extremely fun.
These were some of the best horror games with multiplayer mode, so you can try any of the listed ones, and I’m sure you’ll love them.
See you next time!
