Recently, Blink (an Amazon brand) launched a new model to enhance home security: the Blink Arc. It is a rather innovative security camera because it is not just a single camera, but two that operate under the same mount. Therefore, the big advantage is that you get a wider coverage range.
Now, it is a bit different from other flagship models, such as the Blink Outdoor 4, which, while extremely popular, the Blink Arc is designed to operate on a constant power system, meaning it uses a power cable and is not wireless like the Blink Outdoor 4.
In this article, we will present the main features of the Blink Arc camera.
Native 2K Recording
One of the main features of the Blink Arc is that it can record natively at 2K, meaning the recording quality is significantly higher than the 1080p standard offered by other cameras. It can reach a maximum of 25 fps and a minimum of 24 fps, which is quite impressive considering that other cameras often experience sudden drops in performance.
Weather Resistant
Like other Blink cameras, the new Blink Arc can also be installed outdoors without problems and is certainly designed for exterior placement, not indoor. The downside is that, since it runs on a power cable, you will need a long, weather-resistant extension cord.
Still, it is a great advantage that two cameras are combined under one system to offer a 180° panoramic view, which eliminates blind spots. Therefore, consider placing it in an area where you need full coverage, such as your backyard.
Subscription Required
This is good news if you rarely want to deal with installing an SD card or storage device; however, if that is not the case, it may be a bit disappointing. Essentially, it requires a monthly or annual subscription (with a 30-day free trial included). All recordings are uploaded to the cloud and are accessible at any time by simply linking the app to your personal phone.
As mentioned earlier, these cameras operate under the same mount but with different settings. What unites them is the 180° panoramic mode, which allows both cameras to synchronize for a wider recording range, though they can also function independently.
