Some time ago, I discovered a website called Radio Garden, which allowed you to tune into thousands of live radio stations from around the world. I found it really interesting because it let me listen to local news from different countries or cities, even if I was hundreds of kilometers away.
Because of that interest, I started looking for similar options and found a website that gathers many live cameras from around the world that you can watch for free.
It is great because most of them show popular places, like iconic streets in the United States, but also beautiful locations in other countries. So today I took a look and I will tell you what I saw.
Keep in mind that there can be a significant time difference, sometimes more than 12 hours depending on the country, due to time zones, which are basically divisions of the Earth where each region has a different local time.
This is the main page of EarthCam. There are many options to explore, but it usually shows the most viewed live cameras, so you can easily find major cities like Dublin or New York right there.
This is a live camera installed in New York City’s Times Square. There are people on the streets at all hours. It is amazing how many people walk through this area throughout the entire day.
You can also see some of the iconic screens in this location, those huge advertising displays that show short video clips for a few seconds. And yes, it is extremely expensive to place an ad there.
There are also other cameras in Times Square, so you can choose between three that are currently live. I guess this is due to how popular the place is, since most locations do not offer that many options.
By the way, while I was watching, I saw a Takis ad, which made me laugh.
This is a live camera located in Greece. It shows a beautiful view of what looks like a coastal area with small ports for private boats, so I assume it might be an exclusive area for high-income residents, although that is just my impression.
In any case, the country is very captivating, and this is just one of dozens of live camera options available on the site.
While browsing the website, I found this curious live camera. It seems to show some kind of winter tradition.
Even though it is described as a snowman, right now it looks more like a “dressed-up rabbit,” but it is still very fun because people take pictures with it during the day. You might even get lucky and see those interactions live.
I also noticed there are many animals like squirrels playing around, so if you ask me, I would say this was the best live camera because I like snow, even though I have never experienced it in real life.
