I’ve been meaning to cover a remote-controlled helicopter for several months now. Although I recently covered the DEERC 9201E, a pretty powerful and durable 4×4 RC truck, I have to say that remote-controlled aircraft can be a lot of fun in their own way. However, they also require a bit more practice to get used to controlling them properly.

That said, there are some pretty fun options designed specifically to make things easier for beginners, without requiring too much practice. One of those options is the popular Black Hawk RC Helicopter, made by RCkuler. So, in this article, I’ll take a look at some of its main features, especially when it comes to control and battery life.

Features of the Black Hawk RC Helicopter

If you know a little about classic military helicopters, you’ll probably recognize the Black Hawk design right away. The design stays true to the real-life model, so for many people, having one of these is much more appealing than a typical-looking remote-controlled helicopter, such as the Syma S107G, which I’ve also covered in the past.

Now, beyond the design, I think what most of you really want to know is how far you can control it using its 2.4 GHz signal and how good the battery life is with the three rechargeable batteries included.

With the 2.4 GHz remote control, this helicopter can be controlled from up to 328 feet (100 meters) away, which should be more than enough to give you plenty of freedom to fly it around your backyard. As for battery life, each battery provides up to 10 minutes of flight time, for a total of up to 30 minutes. That’s pretty good battery life, and it’s definitely nice that three batteries are included.

It’s also fairly easy to control. Obviously, it’s normal to feel a little nervous the first few times, but the 6-axis gyroscope helps a lot by keeping the helicopter quite stable while it’s in the air. Basically, this means the helicopter will stay centered instead of aggressively leaning to one side whenever it encounters a light breeze.

And that’s everything you need to know. I’m pretty sure this would make a great gift, whether you’re buying it for a loved one or for yourself.
