Radio is still a great way to listen to music and shows while doing other things around the house. However, some models offer more options than traditional FM stations. And that's great because radios are often associated with older technology, which has led many households to stop considering them altogether.

During a recent major earthquake, radio became quite useful in the first few hours for staying informed because of problems with internet access and mobile data. So, there are plenty of reasons to keep a radio at home, although entertainment and information are still the main ones.

One smart option is the MangoKit SR10, a radio that lets you listen to internet radio stations, stream music from your phone, and use several additional features.

Features

More than 30,000 radio stations

One of the main advantages of this radio is that it gives you access to more than 30,000 internet radio stations, in addition to FM stations. You can also save up to 60 favorite stations so they're easy to find whenever you want to listen.

And if you're wondering how it's possible to access thousands of stations, the answer is pretty simple. Many radio stations actually stream their broadcasts online. I used to do this myself through websites that collect radio stations from around the world. The difference is that having a physical radio can make the experience much more enjoyable and natural than simply browsing the internet.

Bluetooth connectivity

If you prefer listening to your own music, you can connect the radio to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. You can also play podcasts and audiobooks, or even use the built-in podcast player. Additionally, the OKTIV app lets you control the radio from your phone and access its different features.

Alarms

The MangoKit SR10 has two independent alarms, allowing you to set different wake-up times. You can choose between a radio station or an alarm sound, use the snooze function, and set a sleep timer to turn the radio off automatically while you sleep.

Two power options

Another interesting feature is that you can either plug it into a power outlet or use four AA batteries, which aren't included. With batteries, it offers up to 11 hours of playback, so you can take it out to your patio or garden without needing a nearby outlet.

And that's pretty much it. This is a fairly versatile radio that makes better use of modern technology, allowing you to go beyond local radio stations, especially when you have internet access and want to explore stations from farther away.

Of course, you can still stay informed locally without Wi-Fi, so internet radio is simply an extra feature.
