How does planning help?
Planning let’s you to decide what that must be done in order to get to the ultimate goal. It makes your path to success an easier one. Planning helps you to identify the mistakes that you might have done if you didn’t have a plan. A plan helps you to chart out the things and prioritize the things that must be done. In a way, it also helps you to strength your motivation to work towards your ultimate goal. To illustrate the importance of planning, let me give you an example:
Fred is a blogger. He wants to switch his blog to a new domain. And he hopes everything to be done in about 2-3 hours (he doesn’t have a plan; so he overestimates what he can do in 2-3 hours; this usually happens when you take action without a plan). And the day comes, when he has to do the work. First, he has to do some research about moving the content, SEO while moving and all sorts of stuff. Then, he has to get to the technical aspect of moving from one domain to another. Since he doesn’t have a clear plan in his mind, he takes more than 5-6 hours to get everything done.
Planning reduces the time you waste for the “process” because it helps you to identify all the steps in the process and research more about it. If Fred had a plan, he wouldn’t have taken 5-6 hours to set everything up. He wouldn’t have needed to do his research the day he was going to move his domain (That reminds me: Planning also helps you to avoid procrastination). Now, he would have taken more time to set everything up if he had a problem (if he had a good plan, he would have researched earlier about the different problems that could come up in the way).
Get My Point?
Planning helps. I am telling this from my experience. I have done it without planning. But, it took a lot more time and effort (and made me mad at myself for not planning). Having a good plan in your life will help you to be more focused, more confident, less stressful, more goal oriented and gives you better efficiency.
Consistency is also important!
Planning is important. So is consistency. You need to stick with the plan. Don’t change it every now and then. Yes, make changes but not too often. Because if you change it too often, it will affect your confidence in the plan (and in your abilities). Stick with your plan, change it accordingly, when it is necessary (but, not too often).
But is planning just enough?
There are people who think that planning will give them success. Yes, planning does help. But, only if you take action along with it. If you want the best results, you need to have a great plan and be willing to take action (invest time and effort into the goal). Note: A great plan is one which you are confident about, know every part of it and is willing to stick with the plan.
That puts an end to this post. I wanted to write a longer one. But, I think that this post conveys my message (I hope that it did, to you). I know that you already know about all this stuff. But, I just wanted to remind you. I want you to reinforce the ideals in your life. I want you to redefine your life. Have a good plan. Take Action. Combine Both. Be a Super Hero :D
