Are you passionate about blogging ? Do you feel “good” when you blog ? What emotion do you fell when you blog ? What do you view blogging as ? All these questions can be shortened to one question : Do you enjoy blogging ? The main purpose of this post is to ensure that you are enjoying blogging i.e. to ensure that you are blogging for satisfaction than for rewards. Now, you might ask me why should you enjoy blogging ? By blogging for satisfaction, you can blog more effectively which is equal to more subscribers (And more subscribers = more money). You can earn more money by shifting your focus a little bit. Let me tell you more about blogging for enjoyment.
Blogging For Enjoyment
Before we start talking about blogging for enjoyment, let’s look at the definition of enjoyment :-
- the pleasure felt when having a good time
- act of receiving pleasure from something
Ok, these are the best definitions I could find (that will make sense in terms of blogging). You are blogging for enjoyment if you feel that you are having a good time blogging. You are blogging for enjoyment if you get satisfaction by blogging. Let me tell you why this is the best way if you for blogging. Let’s talk some psychology here :- We will far better at something when we are doing it for enjoyment (compared to something you do because of an incentive -in blogging, we have money as the most popular incentive). Well, an incentive is something that can induce a person to act. It can induce. In blogging, money act as an incentive for many of us – It motivates us to blog. Its ok to have money as a motivator. But you don’t want it as the primary motivator. The primary motivator should be something strong – very strong. Satisfaction or Enjoyment is the best and strongest motivator we can get. As I mentioned above, you will be able to earn (more) money (by switching your primary motivator to Satisfaction).
“Ambition is a lust that is never quenched, but grows more inflamed and madder by enjoyment” – Thomas Otway
According to this quote, If you have the ambition to make money using blogging, then you can “increase” the level of ambition by enjoyment. You can earn more. Anyway, if you don’t believe me, you can try it for yourselves. Let’s get back to what we were talking about : For me, Satisfaction is my primary motivator, Hobby is the second (blogging as a time-pass activity) and Money-making as third. Even if its only the third motivator, it is very strong. So, its best to keep “satisfaction” as your first motivator. As Catherine Graham once said, “To love what you do, and feel that it is matters, how could anything be more fun ?”
Yes, how could anything be more fun? If you love blogging and feel that it matters to you, then you will be blogging for enjoyment. I have seen many bloggers argue that blogging for money is way better blogging for satisfaction. Well, that’s not true. I believe that I had enough data to prove it. As a blogger, my advise (to those who doesn’t blog for enjoyment) is to blog for enjoyment. Here is one more quote to get you serious about blogging for enjoyment :
“The biggest mistake people make in life is not trying to make a living at doing what they most enjoy.” – Malcolm S. Forbes.
This quote is actually true. We don’t always do things that we enjoy (Most of the times – we go after money). But if you work for what you enjoy, money will automatically come to (I mean more money). Go after your passion ! Work for it. Anyway, I think its time to wrap up my post. I hope you enjoyed. Thank you for tuning in at Dragonblogger.
