Have you ever wanted to install a game or a software from a friend’s PC but could not proceed because the setup or backup file for the game or software are too large to be transferred into your USB pen drive or into your phone’s SD Card? If yes, then File Splitter is a great solution for helping you deal with files that are too large by helping you split them into smaller parts and then combine them later on.File Splitter is a program which works without being installed on the computer. It can be used to split a large file into small parts or chunks and join the small parts back again. So, you may use File Splitter to split the setup or backup file of your favorite game or software and transfer its chunks to your pen drive or SD card and then merge the entire file again on your PC. The source file is kept intact with no changes, this means you literally can break a multi-gig .exe file into multiple parts and recombine them.
Splitting a Large File with File Splitter
By following the steps below, you can split a file of any type (regardless of the file size) into small chunks.
Step 1: First we need to open File Splitter Application (.exe) and click on “Split File” tab.
Step 2: Choose the Source File by clicking on ‘Browse’ button. File Splitter can split almost all types of files irrespective of the file size.
Step 3: Choose the Destination Folder, where the application will save all the chunk files. For example, if your source file was “thesecretworld.exe”, then the application will create files which will be named as “thesecretworld.exe.chunk001”, “thesecretworld.exe.chunk002”, “thesecretworld.exe.chunk003” etc. depending on the size you selected for each chunk.
Merging small chunks back with File Splitter
By following the steps below, you can merge small chunks of the respective file to form the original file you split.
Step 1: Click on the “Join Files” tab.
Step 2: Choose the Source Chunk by clicking on ‘Browse’ button. You can specify any chunk from the list as the source. File Splitter will recognize all the other chunks automatically.
Step 3: Choose the Destination File. Please keep in mind to name the destination file exactly with the same file format. For example, the file you splitted was “thesecretworld.exe”. Then the destination file name must also be “thesecretworld.exe”. Don’t forget to add the extension also! If the file name and format is not given correctly, then the program will join the files but the format would be “.File” which is unreadable by Windows.
