How to Increase the Hz of a Screen on a Google Pixel

Yes, you can change the Hz so that images look much smoother or, if you prefer to prioritize battery saving, you can limit the refresh rate so it stays at a lower maximum level.

In this article, we will show you how to do it easily. Although this is a feature available on most recent Google Pixel models, many other Android manufacturers, such as Samsung, also include a similar option, so it is worth checking if you want to improve your experience while using your device.

1. Go to Settings

The first step is to open the settings on your Pixel. Then, you need to search for “Smooth Display”, which is an option found in the display and touch settings section. This will allow you to switch between a limited 60 Hz mode or take full advantage of the smoother display in certain apps and compatible content.

2. Enable Smooth Display

Once you find it, make sure Smooth Display is turned on so you can take advantage of the 120 Hz maximum offered by the latest Google Pixel models. Keep in mind that enabling this option can reduce battery life, but it improves the viewing experience, although not all apps can take advantage of it.

You should also know that Smooth Display may turn off automatically when battery saver mode is enabled, when the device temperature increases, or when the battery level is low. Therefore, if your goal is to save battery, it is recommended to turn Smooth Display off.
