Nowadays, losing access to an email account can be catastrophic, especially considering that many of us link our emails to bank accounts. If you are going through a tough moment and need to regain access to your Gmail account, there is no magic solution, but Google provides tools to verify your identity and help you recover it. We understand, however, that you may have tried some of these tools without success.
For this reason, today on Dragon Blogger we bring you a valuable article showing most of the ways to safely and quickly recover a Gmail account. Keep in mind that in some cases, it may be nearly impossible to recover an account if you used old data or if Google cannot verify that you are the owner, otherwise anyone could try to access an account that is not theirs.
Check if you are making mistakes
Before assuming you forgot your password, make sure you are entering the correct one. Something as simple as typing the first letter in uppercase instead of lowercase can make the password appear incorrect. Avoid multiple attempts, because Google might temporarily lock your account for security. Check carefully if a small typing error is preventing access to your Gmail account.
Use “Forgot my password”
You may have already tried this if you are reading this article, but if you haven’t used Google’s main recovery tool, do it immediately. Simply try to log in, and instead of entering the password, select the “Forgot my password” option at the bottom. You can regain access if Google can verify that you are the account owner.
This option works especially well if you have an active phone number linked to the account, access to a recovery email, or are using a device that previously had access to the account. In those cases, Google can make recovery relatively easy.
Wait a few days
If you recently made changes to your Google account, especially to your phone number or recovery email, those changes may take a little time to apply. While the changes take effect, you can continue trying to recover your account using Google’s recovery steps and data.
Contact Google (limited)
This is the least realistic option if you have a standard Gmail account. However, if your account is a business account, you may be able to contact Google and receive personalized help. Due to security measures, this is difficult and usually only works in rare exceptions.
Avoid third-party services
Never try to hire third-party services, and never provide recovery data such as codes to anyone else. Third-party attempts can make the situation worse, because they could manipulate your account if they gain access. The only safe way to regain control of a Gmail account is using Google’s official recovery methods. There is no magic solution.
