As someone who loves watching Japanese Animation, I know how awesome it feels like to be able to play a game based on a Anime. Koei Tecmo is just trying to target that market with their latest title called Attack on Titan.
Attack on Titan is based on the Japanese Animation called Shingeki No Kyojin (Japanese for Attack on Titan) (進撃の巨人) which is set in a fictional world where 100 years before the story takes place, giant humanoid creatures called Titan suddenly appeared from nowhere and nearly wiped out all of the humanity. What remains of the humanity, created three layered enormous concentric circular boundary and now reside there. From there on the Humanity prepares to fight against the Titan and creates the 3D maneuver gear which is the primary weapon.
To appeal the fans of the series, Koei Tecmo has released a set of screenshots of the game. The screenshot focus on slaughtering of Titans using the 3d maneuver gear by slashing their necks. To help create the perfect opportunity for the finishing blow, Titans can be incapacitated by slashing their limbs. The 3d maneuver gear consumes gas so it can’t be used infinitely and the sword also gets worn during the battle so we need to replenish both whenever we can. The player can issues certain commands like “attack” or “spread out” and various characters can also attack in coordination.

To please the fans even more, Koei Tecmo have also released a few short clips of the game showing more of the environment and gameplay style. Various videos only include exploring the area using the 3D maneuver gear while some clips shows the the player moving around in squad with other NPCs (not sure if it has multiplayer or not) while the rest shows sword in action, slaughtering the necks and other parts of Titan.
Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan is planned to be released by the end of this year in Japan and sometime early next year for the rest of the world. The game is currently exclusive for PlayStation consoles only and it’s not confirmed whether the game will be headed to other platforms or not.
