This is the preview of the Ulefone Be Pro 5.5. Though I have not touched the product as of yet, the phone on paper looks very enticing and is priced very competitively. Xiaomi has been in the news about higher end phones that aren’t priced in the high range but many of those phones are not available in the US however they are Currently available for purchase at Gear Best and this is your chance to see what the Ulefone Be Pro 5.5 is all about.
The Ulefone Be Pro 5.5 inch costs $169.99 whereas the Xiaomi Hongmi Note 5.5 Inch is $220.82 if it was sold in the US. Similar specs, but better price and available in the US is always a plus.
The Ulefone Be Pro 5.5 comes out of the box with Android KitKat 4.4 but as the specs below state it is Lollipop ready with the upgrade being available in February of 2015. With 2 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of ROM plus a 64 bit processor this phone is on par with most of your Android phones available today. The phone also has a TF Card slot which will support up to a 64GB SD card. Something I have always required of Android phones as a mandatory feature.
The Nexus products are nice but not having the Micro USB slot takes them out of consideration for me. Android looks to be ASOP, or vanilla Android from previewing the specs which is also my preference when buying an Android phone. If I do buy an Android phone with a layer of cell networks UI on top I find a way to get rid the phone OS on it and go ASOP as soon as I can. This phone saves that hassle.
The top of the phone has your micro USB for charging and PC connectivity along with your standard headphone jack. The back of the phone is slight curved, very popular these days, and also has a 13 mega pixel camera which also supports 1080P video recording at 60 FPS. It appears to have a beautiful IPS screen displaying the 1280 x 720 (720 P HD) within the 5.5 inch display. The back has a slight curve and what appears to be a textured back. Looks like it will be comfortable in the hand and with the texture not slippery.
The battery is a 2600 mAh which should give a good day’s worth of power.
Connectivity is available via 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3G GSM, GPS including 4G LTE. With that the cell networks it supports are GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz. Looks to me like T-Mobile and AT&T customers could take full advantage of this phone.
Other features I found interesting are that OTG is supported, this is the on the go where you can plug in an external hard drive, keyboard, and or mouse (with correct cabling) into the phone. Also it has gesture sensors enabling the ability to wave your hand and make the phone dance for you. It also as a dual SIM slot. One standard SIM slot and also a Micro SIM slot providing some flexibility on those networks, some using the Micro and some the older standard SIM.
