Sometimes you just want a nice combo mouse/keyboard that is wireless and matches your scheme in your room, in my case my desk was white, my furniture was white and the Rapoo 8200P Wireless Mouse/Keyboard combo also came in white. I was more than happy to review this combo keyboard/mouse set and see how it worked for my day to day work.
First, check out the unboxing of the Rapoo 8200P Wireless Mouse and Keyboard
So after unboxing the product it is pretty simple, you just install the batteries and plug in the tiny USB receiver into your PC and your Mouse and Keyboard will start working immediately. If you buy the product from Amazon, you won’t know (at least wasn’t printed there yet) that you also should download the drivers for this keyboard/mouse combo from the brand website. These drivers allow you customize and configure the buttons on the mouse or else the 2 thumb buttons by default don’t do anything. I had to contact the company and see what I could do about the mouse thumb buttons before they told me there were drivers, this is something they should have disclosed either with the product documentation or listed somewhere on the Amazon product page and I let them know about this.
Missing information about the drivers aside, the mouse and keyboard functioned very well. The wireless keyboard was able to keep up with typing tests with virtually no noticeable latency or lag on the keys typed as you can see in this real time recorded typing test on the Rapoo 8200P keyboard.
The only thing I had to adjust to was thegap around the space bar was a bit foreign to my touch typing style and I had to stretch my thumb a bit higher and over the gap to hit the spacebar, this just slowed me down slightly and took some getting used to. The mouse functioned very well (drivers if you want to customize buttons). Remember to select the right product and model number at the top right when you load the software.
Then simply select the mouse and customize the buttons, you can also customize the keyboard keys as well.
With the keyboard you can redefine what the macro buttons do, and which applications they open by default. Setting your music player to Spotify, your Homepage to Chrome…etc for example.
Overall this was a great little business/travel keyboard and mouse combo and if you need a business keyboard/mouse that is easy to use, is responsive, flexible and white or black, then the Rapoo 8200P was certainly pleasant and did a nice job. Now, I did find the mouse was very light weight, too light for my general liking for daily use (fine in a pinch though) and the lack of macro capture limited this from being a gaming keyboard per say. It would have been nice to have some backlit elements to the keyboard and mouse for when you travel and have to work in the dark with this keyboard/mouse combo, so these would be some suggestions for potentially a newer model.
Now I checked the Amazon reviews like I do with all products I review to see what the complaints are about and deliberately run my tests to see if I run into any issues that I see others complain about, and discussions about USB plug break, keys not working, keyboard breaking just didn’t happen to me in the 10 days I was using this as an exclusive keyboard for my computer. Everything worked fine, and I pounded/worked on it for many days. Overall in my opinion the Rapoo 8200P Keyboard/Mouse Combo is an 4 star recommended buy!
