Full Video Review of the BSWHW Battery Case
For those who prefer a written review with pictures showing the BSWHW Battery Case close up, here you go.
The case is very easy to slide your phone into and just slide the top back on to close it up, once your phone is in the case you have access to all your ports, switches and camera holes. Though you can see that the cutouts aren’t perfect and you have to dig your nail in a bit to access the vibrate switch on the iPhone 5S.
On the bottom of the case the cutout for the audio jack is wide enough that the entire headphone cable can stick through the port provided it is one that is narrow and sticks straight, some have jacks that curve or are at 90 degree angles and these won’t go through the case hole at all. The charging port is easy to access and works and you can charge your phone and your case without taking your phone out of the case.
The speaker hole cutouts and other holes and cutouts all work as you would expect. From a case-stand perspective, the kickstand is on the back of the case near the top of the phone. This is a very thin little kickstand that you pull out and it holds the phone in vertical mode only. The kickstand works but it is very thin and feels flimsy, you would only use it on a very solid surface.
You can see from the picture above how the stand is very much not centered behind the case but is off toward the top, again it holds the phone as a stand just fine but it makes it appear to be unstable given the very small size of the kickstand.
The battery itself functions just fine and the power button is on the bottom of the case, the button requires you to press it and feel the click before it powers on. The 4 LED indicators show you how much charge is left in the battery case. I had my son run around with this case playing Pokemon GO and you can definitely notice the extended battery life and play time you get with this battery case for your iPhone than running your iPhone without a battery case.
The other thing about this case that makes it stands out is the full sized USB port in the bottom part of the case. This allows you to use the battery case to charge other phones or USB accessories in case they ran out of power, and using the case to charge a Bluetooth headset or a buddy’s phone in a pinch is a nice touch. Overall the salmon color of the case and the plastic appearance may not exude premium or high quality but the case is fairly functional and is worth considering if you really need that USB port to charge other devices as an option.
