Convert More Search Engine Users Into Blog/Website Visitors

You have increased the keyword densities in your blog posts, built several do-follow links from other popular blogs article directories and forums, and added meta description to each post and page of your blog. Finally you got into the first page of search results for a popular keyword. Still only 5 or 7 percent of the searches end up on your blog. In this post we shall see how to convert more search engine users into blog visitors. The process is quite simple and easy to implement.

CAPITALIZE POST/PAGE TITLE TO GRAB ATTENTION:

Usually all blogs and websites use the sentence case (ordinary English capitalization) or at most capitalize each word in the title. Thus, if you choose to capitalize each letter in the post/page titles, the search engine users would be attracted to your title, increasing the conversion rate.

Another useful trick is to capitalize the first letter of each word in the meta description tag. That would further increase the visibility of your link.

HIGHLY DESCRIPTIVE META DESCRIPTION WITH ALL RELEVANT KEYWORDS:

Before the page preview feature was introduced by Google, the only way to know whether a search result would be useful was to read the meta description or the description fetched by Google. Usually this is what decides whether the search engine user will actually visit your blog. Try to use meta description tags for all your posts and keep the description short with all the major keywords included.

OPTIMIZE TITLE STRUCTURE TO INCLUDE ALL MAJOR KEYWORDS:

Make the post title structure as descriptive as possible. Rather than choosing a mysterious title, try to choose a short, crisp title that tells the search engine user what to expect in the post. After the introduction of Google Instant, the attention span of Google users has gone down drastically. If you want to convert them into blog visitors, include the major keywords and category name in the post title to make it informative and clear.

USE ARROWS (>> AND <<) TO POINT AT THE TITLE:

We often associate these arrows with Internet Marketing sales pages and ads. But that technique can be used by anyone who wishes to catch the attention of a search engine user. We are trying to make our search result as visible and unique as possible. Using >> and << symbols to focus on the title and/or the description will definitely help you convert the search engine user into a blog visitor.

USE ALL POPULAR KEYWORD COMBINATIONS:

Since there are literally thousands of possible combinations the search engine users may type in related to your blog post, it is best to accommodate as many of them as possible. Although Google combines the keywords on your page to make up the search term, having the exact phrase on the page would improve the position of your search result. So, using Google Adwords Keyword Tool, try to find and use as many popular combinations of keywords as possible. The combination most similar to the searched phrase is most likely to convert the searcher into a visitor. But only use the most popular combination as the post title.

I have personally tried and tested the above tips to convert more search engine users into blog visitors, though not all at one place. Especially the capitalization tip worked wonders for me. Some of you might be uncomfortable with the arrows. It’s ultimately a balance between what gets you more visitors to your blog and what irritates your blog visitors. Ask them whether the arrows are OK if you are unsure. Direct feedback is after all the best way to keep your readers happy!
