Marsboy Bone Conduction Bluetooth Headset Review

Lat week I got a headset from our friends over at Marsboy. Now this wasn’t a headset like I’m used to seeing. This Bluetooth headset works with what they call bone conduction technology. First, let’s see what  you can expect to see in the package.

You can see that you get a charging cord, user manual, and the Bluetooth headset. In the picture above you can see that the headset is a band style. Some band style set around your neck and the you place the earbud or speakers in your ears. Not like other Bluetooth headsets this headset sits in front of your ears. Which to me makes for a weird feeling wearing. We will get into that more in a few.

As you can see in the video the headset sits around the ears and on the temple of your skull. As you can see with people with  larger heads it’s  hard to fit. The way it fits maybe because my head is large. You may not have this issue and my daughter didn’t have this issue it fit fine on her head.

From the photo above you can tell how it actually sits on my eardrums and it’s not supposed to. I did, however, have my wife and kid try them out also. My kid could fit them once we adjusted the rubber band that is connected to the Bluetooth headset. My wife also could wear them with little adjustment as long as her hair was in a ponytail.

Unlike other Bluetooth headsets the Marsboy Bluetooth headset is in not an earbud style. This headset has a flat part where there would be the earbuds. Let me show you what that looks like here.

On the band, most of the buttons that run this are on the very back of the neck. This means you have to reach the back of your neck to use the volume. Or power on and off. I think these buttons could have been placed in a better position. As I know people like me don’t actually enjoy reaching around turning the volume up and down from the back of your head. Now the only two buttons that are on the front is the phone answer, and the play and pause button. I will show you those in the next couple photos where they are and how they are all placed.

Like I said the headset is just a flat band no real speaker or earbuds to be seen. This makes for an interesting design and very odd feeling. On the back is also the charging port. You get around 6 hours of play time if you’re using this for music. It takes around 3 hours to charge. Now you may get longer life if you’re using the Marsboy headset at lower volumes.

Let’s talk about how it sounds. The Marsboy Bluetooth headset sounds good. Only they suggest you use earplugs to make the sound better.  The ear plugs prevent your ears from hearing outside sounds so you get the full experience with the bone conduction Headphones.

 In my case, it did not work out that way. One thing I did notice is that if you use it as a phone people can hear both sides of the conversation. You can feel the music vibrate in your head and it is quite a trippy feeling.

If you’re just using the Marsboy Bone conduction Bluetooth headset just for music working out. This may be the set for you. For me, this failed as a great headset.  Like I said that is me since it would not fit my head properly and I brought this up with the manufacturer and told them of my issues. I can’t score this headset high due to not fitting people with larger heads. They did, however, say they are working with their designers  to solve this issue.  If you have a medium or small sized head I can tell you that the sound is very good and this is a unique way of listening to music and provides a way to “feel” it in your skull that you have to try it is very hard to describe.
