When I see a freeware program that allows you to organize your Desktop I am one to immediately check it out.  Stardock Fences does not disappoint and is now installed on every one of my computers.

With Stardock Fences you can create “containers” on your desktop, label them and put files of any type into those containers.  You pretty much can do everything you need with the free version of Fences, but the Pro Version offers more features that include automatically sorting files into your fences based on file type upon download as well as based on time, file names….etc

You can see from the above image that my desktop is now completely organized with my programs in a vertical bar on the left and my most active files on the bottom right.  My games are all in the top right container and my most recent items/browsers are middle top left.

imageWith Fences you have full control over the appearance of your fences as well as the ability to create, delete or rename any fences you want.

StarDock Fences creates a scrolling bar when your container has too many icons in it so it hides icons and allows you to fill as many as you want in each container without worry about running out of space.

Fences is easy to use and is completely free if you just want to organize your icons and manually arrange new ones into your existing fences.  Stardock Fences works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 both 32 and 64bit versions.

If you have a busy desktop, you will not regret using Stardock Fences to manage it.  Again, the software is free and I recommend you check it out today.  This makes my list as one of the top 20 freeware applications for Windows 7.
