iMobie is one of the most trusted third-party companies for any software related issues regarding the iPhone or iPad. They provide a wide variety of maintenance utility software such as a file manager, cloud drive manager, data recovery, device unlocking and repair solutions and much more. In the past, I have reviewed a couple of software by iMobie such as AnyTrans, which is an excellent file manager for iOS devices. This time, we will be taking a thorough look at PhoneRescue, a data recovery software for iPhone and iPad.

PhoneRescue Features

  • Recover deleted/lost data from iPhone and iPad.
  • Recover data from existing iTunes/AnyTrans backup stored on your computer.
  • Recover iCloud data from lost/stolen device.
  • Repair iOS system issues like device stuck on Apple logo, recovery mode, boot loop, etc.
  • Remove any type of lock screen passcode.
  • Recover or remove Screen Time password.

Data Recovery

Recover from iOS Device

Suppose your iOS device is inaccessible due to issues such as damaged screen, unresponsive touch, accidental deletion of data or water damage. In that case, you can recover your data with the help of this feature. Connect your iOS device, select ‘Recover from iOS Device’ and click on .

Select the type of data that you want to recover and click on ‘OK’. PhoneRescue will start scanning for deleted as well as existing files and list them. Select the files that you want to recover and then click on to save the recovered files. If you wish to transfer the files directly to your iOS device, then click on the button.

The free version of PhoneRescue only lets you preview the recoverable files. To recover them, you will have to purchase the full version.

Recover from Backup

If you want to recover data from an existing iTunes or AnyTrans backup stored on your computer, then you can use this feature. Upon selecting ‘Recover from Backup’, PhoneRescue will scan all backups saved on your computer. Select the backup file and click on next. A popup will appear asking whether you want to compare or just scan backup. If you click on compare, the software will compare the backup file with the data on your iOS device and show just the data which doesn’t exist on your device. Selecting the second option will just scan the backup file. Select the type of data that you want to recover and click on OK. Then select the files and recover them, as shown earlier.

In case your backup is encrypted, you will be asked to decrypt it by entering the password. And like me, if you have forgotten the password to your backup, then you can easily recover it by clicking on ‘Forgot Password’. Input the required details if you have a vague idea of your password and click on ‘Start’. The recovery time will depend on the password’s length and complexity and differ depending on your system. For a 3 character password comprising of just numbers, it took my system around 2 minutes.

Recovery from iCloud

Recovery from iCloud lets the user recover files directly from iCloud. Enter your id and password to login to your iCloud account. Select the files that you want and click on Download. Once the download is finished, you will be able to recover the files by following the same steps mentioned before.

Device Rescuer

Repair iOS System

If your device is frozen, stuck on the white Apple logo, boot loop, or in recovery mode, then you might want to give this feature a try. Select ‘Repair iOS System’ and click on .

PhoneRescue offers two types of repair modes, Standard Mode and Advanced Mode. The Standard Mode will update your iOS device to the latest version and perform a clean wipe of the device which will delete all the data. The Advanced Mode will also update the device to its latest firmware version, and you will not lose any data. So you can choose the repair method depending on your preference. Simply follow the provided instructions by iMobie, and your device will be repaired. Check out this guide for more information.

Remove Lock Screen Passcode

If you have forgotten your old iPhone device’s password, you can use this to unlock your device. This feature can help you remove lock screen passcode, Touch ID and Face ID. However, this will require your device to be formatted. So unless you are completely out of options or if you don’t mind losing the data on the device, then you may proceed. You will also need your Apple ID login credentials if Find My iPhone feature is enabled. Follow the steps and switch your phone over to recovery mode. Then download the latest firmware for your iOS device and let PhoneRescue do its magic.

Disclaimer: PhoneRescue is designed to help iPhone/iPad users recover their data and unlock their own devices’ password. It is strictly for personal use. Any misuse of AnyUnlock for commercial or illegal purposes is strictly prohibited.

Remove Screen Time Passcode

Screen Time allows the user to set a timer for your apps to not spend too much time. But on the occasion that you want to disable it and don’t remember the password, you can remove it easily with PhoneRescue. The software requires you to make a backup of your iOS device to perform the recovery. Once the backup is finished, PhoneRescue will start analyzing the data and recover the password.

Verdict

PhoneRescue is a great data recovery tool that helps Apple users recover data from their iPhone/iPad. It has many data recovery features such as recovering deleted data, recovering data from iTunes backup, and iCloud. Apart from data recovery solutions, PhoneRescue can also repair iOS devices stuck on Apple logo, recovery mode, and boot loop. It also helps the user recover from situations such as a forgotten lock screen password, and Screen Time password recovery. While the free version is limited to showing just the recovered files’ preview, it at least assures the buyer that the lost data can still be recovered by purchasing the software. The pricing of PhoneRescue is $49.99 for a 1-year license while the lifetime license costs $59.99. Head on over to PhoneRescue’s website to find out more details.
