The PS5 and Xbox Series X are one of the most popular and best-selling consoles of recent years, but which of the two is better? Unlike a PC where we can compare processors and graphics cards, in consoles opinions can vary, and not only is power important (I would say it is secondary). Both consoles are powerful and can run the games in 4K, but as I mentioned earlier, exclusive games are probably one of the main reasons why gamers choose one of these two consoles.
Which is more powerful?
Although both consoles can run games in 4K/60fps and a maximum refresh rate of up to 120fps, the Xbox Series X is slightly more powerful compared to a PS5. The Xbox console has 12,155 teraflops compared to the PS5’s 10.28 teraflops, which means that there is a difference of 18%. Although this does not mean that the noticeable difference, the Sony console is well optimized in addition both consoles share a CPU and GPU designed by AMD, so in terms of performance I would say that both consoles can work equally well.
Exclusive games of each console
This is probably the main reason why gamers will end up choosing one of these two amazing consoles. To be as fair as possible, I took it upon myself to look up some of the most popular exclusive games on each console, so if you’re a fan of some of them, then you might stick with one of the two consoles. Maybe you could get both consoles. I will try to focus only on recent games.
PS5 exclusive games
- Spider-Man 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- God of War Ragnarok
- Gran Turismo 7
- The Last of Us part 2
- Horizon Forbidden West
Xbox Series X exclusive games
- Forza Motorsport
- Halo: Infinite
- Forza Horizon 5
- ARK 2
- Hellblade 2
- The Elder Scrolls VI (2024)
As you may have noticed, there are many interesting games on both consoles and you can find many more games. Only you could choose your favorite console, so if you’ve always owned an Xbox, then I’d say an Xbox Series X would be a great option or maybe you want to try a PS5 and all the exclusive games this console has. Another important aspect is online, do you plan to play with your friends? Cross-console compatibility is only available in some games, so keep in mind that if you choose the opposite console to your friends, you probably won’t be able to play most games with them.
PlayStation Plus vs Xbox Game Pass
Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X require a subscription to enjoy most online content (except for free games). There is a big difference when it comes to the subscription, a few years ago the subscription was given the possibility to play online, some discounts on games, and some free games every month (at least PlayStation worked that way). Now both consoles give you the possibility to get a large library with games that you can download for free as long as you have an active subscription. Every so often the library is updated, so you can get very good games, which could be a money saver if you are one of those who usually play many games.
Although PlayStation does a good job and has an extensive library of games, Xbox is better in that regard, I don’t mean quantity, the Xbox model is to offer the best games to its users, so most Xbox exclusive games will be playable for free on the release date. Xbox also allows you to enjoy game pass on PC, so you can also play all these games if you have a Windows PC.
Both consoles are great and have incredibly fun exclusive games, so no matter what your favorite console is, I’m sure they’ll make a great choice. The PS5 and Xbox series X are powerful consoles that allow you to play in 4K/60fps in most games and it is even possible to get 120fps, which will give you an unbeatable experience. Subscriptions give you incredible benefits so you can access hundreds of games for free, which could help you save money.
