Google Drive is one of the best cloud service platforms and of course is offered by Google which integrates all your accounts into one and allows storage of all your important files into a virtual server. However, it is not just about storing data and information. There is much more to Google drive than that which is not known to many people. Here are the top 8 things people didn’t know Google drive could do.
Crop Photographs
To crop photographs generally means that you can either cut them into a rectangle or a square. However, Google drive gives you the flexibility to not only crop the photos but also crop them into various shapes. Give them fancy heart shapes or a circle or a triangle. You have the freedom to mess around with the shapes as you like.
Fun with add-ons
There are many interesting add-ons in your Google Drive that let you experiment with your content in word documents. For example, you can use EasyBib which helps you in adding a bibliography at the end of the document automatically or translator that helps in translating the document into another language. Find these add-ons in the tool bar of your Google doc file or spreadsheet.
Keep track of activities
You can monitor all the changes in your Google Drive by clicking the small ‘i’ icon in the right hand corner of the screen. After you click this option, you can see all the activity on your account.
Get more Email space
You can send much bigger attachments via your Google drive than via your mail box which has a limit of 25mb attachment. You can also save all the attachments directly to your drive when you receive it in your email. However, be careful of what you download as it can be a virus too. To be on the safe side use apps for online security so that you do not accidently contaminate your files and drives.
See History
Google Drive allows you to make up to 100 revisions to your document that can be tracked by clicking the “file” and “see revision history” option on your toolbar. This is one of the most basic features that many people don’t know about.
Access spreadsheets offline
You get access to all your spreadsheets even when you are not connected to the internet. This means that all the changes you make while you are offline will be automatically updated the moment you connect to the internet. There have been many other upgrades to this feature like the AVERAGIEIF which gives average of the selected cells or the unlimited number of cells or columns.
Keyboard shortcuts
You can get a list of all the shortcuts on your keyboard by simply pressing the “shift” key along with “?” to allow Google drive to pull up a list of all the shortcuts.
Customize the view
You can customize not only the view but also the access of the files that you are sharing via your Google Drive account. This helps in ensuring that people see only what you want them to see.
